Handling Your Unemployment Claims and Hearings
to Save Time and Money

Are your unemployment claim costs beginning to affect your bottom line?  If handled improperly or not handled at all, UI claims can cost you -- your time spent on claims and at hearings, the UI benefits awarded to claimants, and your UI tax rates.  Come join the discussion on how you can handle your unemployment claims and hearings to save your business time and money.  Learn how to handle your unemployment claims and hearings like the professionals.  First thing is first, start to manage your unemployment insurance costs by training your staff to hire "right" in the beginning, and manage “right” with proper disciplinary actions and documentation.  UI claims are still inevitable, but you can learn how to file a proper response to a claim with the goal of heading off claims at the initial level rather than the appellant level.  If a claim does lead you to the appeals level, the preparation for your hearing is critical -- know what you need to ask and how you should ask it.

Our presenter is Von Boyenger, President of Employer’s Advantage.  Von has a degree from USF in Organizational Behavior and has been handling UI claims and hearings since 1982, averaging 650 UI hearings per year for a variety of industries, including private business, school districts and municipalities.  Von began Employer’s Advantage in 1999 to provide full UI services – they offer UI claims management, hearing representation, UI tax audits, and HR consulting.  Employer’s Advantage is only one of two UI service firms located in CA, typical clients are Fortune 500 firms.  Von has lived in Redding with his family since 1987.
